CLIENT CASE STUDY
The Retreat—Wellness and Resort Spa

Our Focus
Creating productive landscapes, managing erosion, and safeguarding structures on a steep property.
Location

Atenas, Costa Rica
Challenge and Solution
The site faced dangerous erosion from unmitigated roof runoff, threatening building foundations.
Limited access, challenging parking, and steep slopes compounded the issues, while the western aspect hindered food production.
We transformed the property with a functional access system, erosion control measures, and productive landscaping.
Key solutions included a stunning lily pond for runoff management, an alternate driveway, and parking, along with a diverse mix of fruit trees and shade-tolerant tropical crops for sustainable food production.

Key Results
- Critical sections of the property protected with erosion control systems.
- Roof runoff redirected through a functional lily pond system.
- A variety of fruit trees and perennial crops incorporated into the landscape for sustainable food production.
